Ryan believes that the practice of urban planning and design should have bold aspirations to enable communities to advance equity and sustainability while creating vibrant and livable spaces in urban and rural environments. Through the use of digital tools and software such as Esri’s Urban Suite, Adobe’s Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, and other web-based applications, Ryan looks to translate conceptual urban strategies into effective spatial forms.

With a background studying urban planning and design, he brings a passion

and expertise in placemaking, sustainable urbanism, transit-oriented development, and Indigenous capacity building. Focusing his research on authentic place identities and experiences, Ryan is drawn to learning about how humans learn from and interact with the environments they help create and inhabit. Ryan is currently a Candidate Member with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP).
