2445 Waverley - Manitoba Islamic Association
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Overview:
The Manitoba Islamic Association (MIA) are interested in developing a new community centre to support its growing community and the broader south Winnipeg community. 2445 Waverley is home to the Grand Mosque and the development of the Community Centre will play a key role in the long-term goal of becoming a complete community campus offering housing, offices and meeting spaces for social gatherings and religious services, and recreational spaces for the Muslim community and the greater south Winnipeg.
Challenges:
The location and absence of municipal services such as connection to wastewater sewers and piped water is a challenge for staging development of this site. Through extensive consultation, M Richards & Associates have been able to craft a vision that addresses both the immediate needs and long-term goals of the client.
