Overview:

The Flin Flon – Creighton – Denare Beach (FDC) Region is a solidified economic hub for Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

M Richard and Associates Ltd. has worked collaboratively with each of these communities to establish a strategic investment attraction portfolio including economic profiles, substantiated business cases and web portal. Invest FDC has contributed to the Region’s long-term strategic planning to diversify its economic bases and industries and was recently recognized for marketing innovation for a population greater than 5,000 by the Saskatchewan Economic Development Alliance.

Challenges:

The decommissioning of HudBay Minerals facilities in Flin Flon and its transition into Snow Lake has led to a need to foster planned diversification by building on its competitive advantage of a northern commercial, hospitality and service hub. Our approach is based on the concept of economic gardening and nourishing the existing small to medium sized businesses in the region to help them continue to grow and expand, while providing the necessary tools and resources to attract foreign investment.
