THE EVOLUTION OF
DOWNTOWN WINNIPEG
True North Campus: Reimagining Portage Place
Creating a shared ecosystem
for a historic landmark in Downtown Winnipeg
The ambitious plan involves creating a diverse campus that embraces the idea of (1) a modern and inclusive healthcare centre, (2) public greenspaces, (3) neighborhood services including cultural and arts features, and (4) affordable and multifamily housing with access to large footprint grocery.

Our Commitment to Reconciliation
Portage Place Shopping Centre is located on Treaty One lands, the original territories of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Lakota, Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Red River Métis. We proudly acknowledge our role in the many relationships that make up our home and commit to a spirit of reconciliation for the future.
Supporting a Resilient and Healthy Downtown
True North believes in the future of Downtown Winnipeg. This redevelopment opportunity will contribute to the long-term health, safety and economic prosperity of the city through the creation of inclusive community spaces.

Community As Our Vision

True North is seeking to transform the Portage Place Shopping Centre from a 1980’s large, outdated retail structure into a renewed, supportive and mixed-use campus for Downtown Winnipeg.
A significant focus of this transformation will be focused around facilitating Neighborhood Services, Culture and Arts as well as Housing, Urban Greenspaces, Food Security and Health Equity.
Take a quick tour to learn more about our early ideas for the future of this very important piece to Winnipeg's downtown identity and urban ecosystem.
