Public Markets Redevelopment Site

Overview:

The former Canada Packers and Public Markets/Union Stockyard lands in St. Boniface is one of the most significant brownfield sites in the City of Winnipeg. It is one of eleven designated  'Major Redevelopment Sites' in Complete Communities and is located on former industrial lands at the corner of Archibald and Marion.

Challenges:

Crafting a funding application through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Green Municipal Fund to restore and bring the 171-acres of brownfield back into productive economic use. Funding through the Green Municipal Fund will help address issues around soil remediation and risk management.
