Portage Place Redevelopment

Overview:

The redevelopment of Portage Place is a keystone project for the future of Downtown Winnipeg. Through a collaborative engagement process with many important community stakeholders in the surrounding neighbourhoods, the new development will provide all the components of a complete community. This will include a 10,000 square foot safe and accessible community space and purpose built housing that will support students, indigenous residents, and many others.

 

Challenges:

One of the biggest procedural challenges for this project is generating support from all levels of government in a Public Private Partnership, on top of generating support at the community level. Multi-level support is crucial to accomplishing the progressive vision for the site.
