Overview:

Successful execution of the precedent setting municipal development service and development agreement between the Peguis First Nation and the City of Winnipeg.

Challenges:

Creating the narrative on why we must do better to support First Nation development in Winnipeg, MB. This includes why First Nations must be treated as an autonomous level of government and why it should not be feared. Negotiation involved extensive work with the City of Winnipeg to arrive at a mutually acceptable approach to land use and development on reserves inside the City of Winnipeg
